Since you are reading this listing, you are probably already familiar with the Spiders history. The only historical data I will address is that of the 1200 that were built at the Canley, England factory, its estimated that only about 125 are still in existence today. Of all the TR7s that were built, the Spider was the only one painted black. This Spider is a proven Concours de Elegance winner. It has placed first in six South Central Regional VTRs (Vintage Triumph Register) Conventions and first in one VTR National: 2008 Tyler, Texas 2009 Marble Falls, Texas 2010 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 2011 New Braunfels, Texas 2012 Tulsa, Oklahoma The car was not shown in the 2013 South Central Regional at Waco, Texas. It took first place at the 2012 VTR Nationals, October 31st, in Galveston, Texas (see concourse photo) The vehicle was restored in 2007. The paint is still very near 100 percent. There are a few very minor imperfections but nothing that will affect its show quality. The interior is as close to original as possible. The interior is in excellent condition with correct seats and carpet. There is an updated radio and speaker system. The engine compartment is extremely clean. The only deviation from totally original is an electronic ignition system, manual chokes and a Monza exhaust system. I have all vehicle information labels ready to install. The convertible top and tires are also in excellent condition. All graphics are the original 3M reflective. It has been garage kept and covered since restoration. The engine runs very smooth and has about 2000 miles on a new valve job. Currently, the vehicle carries about 75,000 miles. During restoration the original speedometer was replaced with a NOS 140 mph speedometer. The 140 mph speedometer currently shows 9089 miles. The original speedometer read about 65,700 when replaced. A few notes are: The gas tank was totally reworked with new sending unit. Interior is sound proofed with Dynamat sound proofing material. All wheel rims, including spare tire rim, were powder coated with original color. Radiator was rebuilt with a high efficiency r-fin pro cooling cores. New alternator New trunk and hood rubber seals. What needs attention: For future shows, the steering wheel probably needs replacing (I have a contact for a new one). The current one is the original TR8 style and is showing signs of age. I just hated to get rid of it. It has a NOS clock that does not work. The air conditioner was never put into service. A working air conditioner is not required for Concours showings. Added note: The vehicle has always been serviced and maintained by John Gauldin of Triumph World Services, Inc. of Edmond, Oklahoma. John is a premier Triumph auto mechanic recognized through out the South Central Region of the U.S. A restoration folder is available. Please notify if you have any specific questions.
